Invasion has won a second book award! Fabulous!

To blow my own horn, that's three awards I've won thus far. Guess I are a writer.

Really though, I'm truly grateful for the recognition. Writers toil away in isolation, and it's hard to tell if a story is shit or gold while you're writing it. It is for me, at least. Good reviews help too, but I think an award, reviewed by those who are literary and publishing professionals, unequivocally shows the world that a writer is serious about her craft, and is more than willing to expend the time, energy, and money to bring an idea to reality.

And as I am always in competition with myself, this spurs me to strive to make my next book, When Gods Die, an award-winner, too!

And it isn't even over yet.

I've been hospitalized twice in 2018. During the winter and spring, I was in a particularly bad place and was locked up in a certain ward in the hospital. I do not recommend it. The Hilton it ain't. And the food is appalling. Barely a month later, I was back. I'm still recovering from it, and will probably be in recovery for six months to a year.

Between this, that, and the other, I've written barely a lick this year. I wrote a sentence in February. After that, nothing. Now that I can sit at my computer again, I hope to get a word in here or there. But there are other things that are holding my attention right now, and they're not exactly good things. I'll manage, I suppose. Somehow.

There's a book called "Touched By Fire" by Kay Redfield Jamison. She's a psychiatrist. Dr. Jamison analyzed the letters written by and to Lord Byron, Samuel Coleridge and other famous poets, writers and visual artists. From these, she deduced that they were suffering from a variety of mental illnesses, which may have helped fuel their creativity. She's not suggesting that people who don't suffer from mental illness can't be creative, but she posits that mental illness can play a role. It's a good book--thought provoking. If you're interested, you might want to pick it up.

Social media--I'm starting to find it boring. Facebook, Twitter and so on. Of course, it doesn't help that Win 10 updated itself and wiped out my ability to watch internet videos. Even without the videos, though, I'm still find my attention wandering. Is it the same with you, or is it just me? Maybe I should do a search and find other sites that will keep my attention.

So that's all for now. In the future, I'll try not to let my lapses go on for so long.

Haven't been here in a while. Never mind why--chalk it up to native incompetence.

At any rate, I'm back with CUTV News, doing interviews. the video interview will be out soon, and the radio interviews run from January 4 - March 1. I love these interviews. They are so much fun, and the hosts are great. Next one is January 12. If you miss it, don't worry--the shows will be archived on this website for your listening enjoyment.

In other news, Invasion won an award. Didn't take the gold, but I'm happy with the silver. So I'm now not just an award-winning author, but a multi-award winning author. This means of all the competitions I've entered, I've won an award. Let's hope my streak holds with the others I'm entering soon.

Gotta run!

Well! I see by the date it's been a while since I've posted here. In my defense, a LOT has been going on this past month.

First, The Underground: Second Edition placed as a finalist in the Readers' Favorite Book Award Contest. I'm pretty chuffed about that. Totally unexpected. That is most likely because I'd forgotten I'd entered.

The Underground's sequel, Invasion, will be released soon. Two books in one year! Sorta, anyway. I'll admit the sequel was half finished when I released the Underground. So look for it at the beginning of October, or maybe even sooner, if all goes well.

Finally, I'm taking a break from writing. Just for a while. I've been going great guns for several years now, and I need a rest. I'd rather rest from my day job, but writing doesn't pay the bills, at least not yet. So I'm thinking maybe six months, though I'll probably last half that. Can't keep my mitts off the computer, you know. But I have lots more stories to tell, and they will get told.

Here's a concept cover for Invasion. This isn't the final, but it's going to look pretty much like this.

Have a series of radio interviews and a video interview coming up again, this time for my new book, "Invasion." After a spellcasting gone terribly wrong, three paranormals divided by love and jealousy discover themselves inextricably bound through their auras. Not only must they find a way to unbind themselves, they must also help an interstellar assassin stave off a potential alien invasion of Earth before it's too late--for them and the planet.

Yes, I know--not a very good elevator pitch. But then, I was never good at making them. It'll just have to do. At any rate, there will be a short story appended to it, "Forever Bound." Suffice it to say that a powerful vampire regent contemplates driving a stake through his heart. The purpose of the short is to end our quartet's adventures on Earth. I figured after a threatened alien invasion, what could possibly be next? So they take off in the alien's battleship and find new adventures.

In other news, The Moreva of Astoreth has a new look. I liked the old cover just fine, but reviewers and judges didn't. One reviewer actually took a star off my review because of it. So instead of five stars, I only got four. Rather aggravating, since the quality of the cover doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what's between them. Yet people do judge books by their covers, so I had to change it. Look for it on the front page soon.

So that's all for now. See ya in the funny papers!
